Hagåtña city riot
if necessity is the mother of invention, then her children need to be creative! Most Especially when you live on a small island in the middle of the pacific ocean. THat is why I’m stoked to have enjoyed and performed at the latest art show by unknown projects in the heart of guam. the hagatna city riot show saw over 25 artist from our community submit their latest creations for a 2-day exhibition, which also included the love of my life, pretty gnarly.
my wife and I have had the honor of witnessing each other grow as artists and people. in that regard, Our relationship together is a lot like my relation to the local art scene. If not for the efforts to exceed for what we love, it is being true to ourselves that helps facilitate this growth for one another. I’d be lost without a vessel to navigate these waters in search of solid ground to stand on.
Perhaps that is where we find meaning?
money can only mean so much to a starving artist now living off the land. that is how we maintain ourselves on this island as creatives.
Being married to an artist has been the greatest privilege in my life next to playing music on this island i call home. you might have witnessed yourself, the time i proposed to regg under the instillations of an art show as we finished our set as nvr drmt. one of the greatest moments of my life. I’ve been devoted to the arts for as long as I can remember washing up on these shores. That’s why i’m incredibly proud of my wife Regina for her latest art piece and all the talented artists who made this exhibit possible. It is the hard work and the unbridled tenacity of this community of artists I’m with that keeps me from feeling shipwrecked.
here, we are all in same boat.
